Tessellate Scarf blue/white

$660.00

Based in Canberra, Australia, Jennifer Robertson works from her studio designing and weaving complex textiles on a unique handloom. Her textile pieces are internationally recognised for excellence and innovation, represented by public international collections including the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, New York, USA, National Gallery of Australia and private collections worldwide, please see cv.

Inspired by exploring visual language, relationship between Australia’s natural environment, human form and materiality, Jennifer’s hand-woven scarves and wraps are innovative and tactile, lightweight and durable, colourful and versatile, with flexible colour and tonal palettes to work in with a wide range of garments and interiors- as wall artworks or draped furnishings. Scarves and wraps are collector’s items, meticulously woven in multiple layers using premium fine threads, durable, artistically and technically accomplished and to be enjoyed over many years. A luxurious art piece to treasure celebrating the finest craftsmanship, rich colour, tonal palettes and fine fibres.

With professional experience in undertaking special commissions, collaborations, exhibitions, you’re welcome to use the contact form supplied to email Jennifer directly.

Materials – fine silk, linen

Technique – woven by hand on a unique complex handloom.

Dimensions – @180cm x 48cm

Care – Hand wash in approved wool wash, dry flat, iron. Dry cleanable. Delicate item, take care when wearing jewellery.

The Tessellate series of scarves and wraps are hand-woven in the studio and explore geometry found in nature – in geology, rocks, gems, minerals and architecture inspired by nature. The patterns are woven in repeat into the structure and surface of the weave, interlocking two layers, which are woven simultaneously, producing a reversible scarf or wrap. Intricate, with a focus on line and space between, these gorgeous pieces are highly versatile and trans-seasonal, using fine silk threads in the warp on the loom and fine linen threads in the weft. The scale of these woven patterns softly flatter the human form and are versatile in interior spaces.
