Inspired by folding, pleating, expanding and collapsing feathered surfaces of birds, in particular native grass wrens inspired these hand-woven artworks. Working with metaphors, insulation, protection, wrap and reveal, show for purpose, contrasting spun fibres and structures were explored to accentuate the descriptive visual language and highlight differential shrinkage. Folding lines of various angles woven with varying motifs form the whole visual language, informed by observation of each species.
