





Ancient Peruvian weavers cleverly wove cloth much wider than a back-strap loom allows, by folding one layer on top of another and weaving concertina edges, cloth could unfold once cut off the loom. These artworks were woven in multiple concertina layers and tubular constructions, enabling each to be woven entirely in one piece.
Exploring the materiality of fine, waxed linen thread, a strong plant fibre with earthy, slightly roughened characteristics and glass fibre, miniature three-dimensional forms were inspired by plant and Hexactinellid forms and explore human interaction with nature. Basketry off loom hand techniques fashioned these small-scale objects, no larger than 20x20x20cm.
