Pilbara Seed Wrap Velleia panduriformis

$990.00

Based in Canberra, Australia, Jennifer Robertson works from her studio designing and weaving complex textiles on a unique handloom. Her textile pieces are internationally recognised for excellence and innovation, represented by public international collections including the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, New York, USA, National Gallery of Australia and  private collections worldwide, please see cv.

Inspired by exploring visual language, relationship between Australia’s natural environment, human form and materiality, Jennifer’s hand-woven scarves and wraps are innovative and tactile, lightweight and durable, colourful and versatile, with flexible colour and tonal palettes to work in with a wide range of garments and interiors- as wall artworks or draped furnishings. Scarves and wraps are collector’s items, meticulously woven in multiple layers using premium fine threads, durable, artistically and technically accomplished and to be enjoyed over many years.

The Pilbara Seed series, is one in a series, hand-woven, beautifully soft, warm and lightweight wide scarf or wrap. A luxurious art piece to treasure celebrating the finest craftsmanship, rich colour palette and fine merino wool, cashmere. Seed motifs interlock and weave layers together, there are soft pleats too. The Pilbara region is located in north-western Australia, native plants in this area contain fascinating ranges of seeds, explored in weaving by ‘morphing’ seed parts together in symmetry, not dissimilar to botanical art forms.
