Passerine
The Passerine Series are hand-woven, one-of-a-kind luxurious, innovative wraps and scarves, inspired by feathered surfaces of different species of birds. Exploring analogies between nature, human form and materiality, expanding and collapsing feathered surfaces of birds are translated into woven textile pleats and folds by controlled differential shrinkage, achieved by specialist skills in hand-weaving structure and surface. Wraps and scarves both protect and reveal human form, contrasts between spun fibres and structures in relationship were explored to accentuate descriptive visual language and highlight texture. Folding lines of various angles woven with varying motifs form the whole visual language, informed by observation of each species.
